Private garden redesign project: using the whole garden to create one coherent space

Brief from client was to connect the garden as one coherent space, encouraging our clients beyond the immediate garden surrounding their house, drawing them out to the extremities of their garden space, with a view to the works on the garden being ‘phased,’ taking into account the clients wish list:

  • The property sits at the top of a south facing hill not only does the property enjoy stunning far reaching views, the ‘hill’ is apparently a beautiful wildflower meadow, presenting a rare opportunity to ‘connect’ an established meadow within our clients ownership with their garden area.
  • Growing their own fruit and vegetables was a must, to include fruit cages, with turret shapes to echo nearby properties. A greenhouse with ‘an entrance’ was requested.
  • Attracting wildlife was desirable particularly birds and butterflies, as well as finding a home for the clients dovecote.
  • Provide for water collection
  • Include ‘snug’ sitting areas to take advantage of the scenery.
  • Existing pond to be removed, water to be included in the design with the sound of water.
  • Create privacy from the neighbours, front and back with a possible dining area near the kitchen.
  • Create a real sense of arrival.
